TURBO LIFT
Turbolifts are used extensively throughout Starships as transit. Able to go both vertically and horizontally, they extend to all necessary areas of the ship. Easy access to engineering, bridge, living quarters, and recreational facilities are a must aboard ship, and the turbolifts fulfil this task perfectly.
A early 23rd Century model of the turbolift, such as those used aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 used a control module to activate and control the lift. Later models in the 23rd Century, like that on the U.S.S. Excelsior NCC-2000 were voice activated. Simply tell the lift your destination and it speeds you on your way.
Turbolifts of the 24th Century are based mostly on a voice-activated model
